Miss Oswin von Allerlei Bloggerei hat mich in einem Kommentar gefragt, ob ich auch noch eine weihnachtliche Maniküre in den Farben blau und silber mache. Als ich den Kommentar gelesen habe, ist mir klar geworden, dass ich erstens den Wald vor lauter Bäumen nicht mehr sehe, denn an diese klassische Farbkombination hätte ich nie und nimmer mehr gedacht, und dass ich zweitens offenbar der rot-grün-goldene Weihnachtstyp bin im Gegensatz zum blau-silbernen Weihnachtstyp – ja, so einfach kann die Welt manchmal eingeteilt werden 😉 Darum war es höchste Zeit für eine blau-silberne Maniküre!

When I read it I realized that, first, I could not see the forest for the trees because never ever I would have thought of this classic color combo, and second, I am apparently the red-green-gold Christmas type as opposed to the blue-silver type – oh yes, sometimes the world is that simple 😉 That’s why it was about time for a blue-silver manicure!
Ich habe begonnen mit 3 Schichten China Glaze Glistening Snow, einem Glitterlack mit sehr feinem silbernem, holographisch reflektierendem Glitter. Der Lack funkelt wunderschön. Allerdings hat er für mich auch einen großen Nachteil: Er trocknet zu einer rauen, ja richtiggehend kratzigen Oberfläche und man braucht sehr viel Top Coat, um die Unebenheiten auszugleichen und das schöne Funkeln wieder hervorzubringen. Auf die Nagelspitzen habe ich den blauen Schimmerlack China Glaze Blue Year’s Eve aufgetragen, habe aber keine gerade French-Linie gezogen, sondern den Lack ‘fransig’ in Richtung Nagelhaut verteilt. Zusätzlich habe ich noch den blauen Glitterlack Lynnderella AquaMan Candy auf die Nagelspitzen getupft.
I started out with 3 coats of China Glaze Glistening Snow which is very fine silver and holo glitter in a clear base. It has an amazing sparkle to it. However – and that’s a big downside for me – it dries very rough and gritty and you need a lot of top coat to even that out. I added the shimmery blue polish China Glaze Blue Year’s Eve just on the nail tips. I didn’t draw a straight french line but kind of dabbed it on and sparsely spread it down towards the cuticles. To top it all off I applied the blue glitter Lynnderella AquaMan Candy onto the tips.

I love blue nail varnish, so I was always going to love this look. Can’t wait to see what you come up with when you use Tristam and Galahad pretty much ties for first place with that as my favourite A-England nail varnish. I think I need to invest in Blue Years Eve, it looks stunning in your photos.

Love this combo, and I too have CG Glistening Snow but I had no idea what kind of magic you can do with it… Must try it out myself!

Thanks 🙂 I guess Glistening Snow was perfect for this wintery look! But it really frustrates me so much that the polish dries to this over-gritty finish 😦 And it’s incredibly top coat hungry …

Exactly! When all these textured polishes and the first “liquid sands” were launched, I thought “oh, they’re just like Glistening Snow and Champagne Kisses”. 😀
