Ich hatte folgenden Plan: Ich wollte für jede OPI-Kollektion der letzten zwei Jahre ein Water Marble-Design kreieren und mit der Farbauswahl immer innerhalb der jeweiligen Kollektion bleiben. Ich fand diese Idee genial! Erstens würde ich so die Wirkung der sehr schönen und gekonnten Farbzusammenstellungen der Kollektionen nutzen können und zweitens war ich davon überzeugt, dass die Lacke bei einem Water Marble-Design wunderbar miteinander funktionieren würden, da sie ja alle von derselben Marke waren. Glücklich begann ich meinen ersten Versuch mit der letztjährigen Frühjahrskollektion Euro Central. Ich scheiterte kläglich. Die Lacktropfen verteilten sich nicht nur nicht im Wasser, oh nein, nach etwa drei Tropfen zog sich die Lackschicht auf der Wasseroberfläche sogar wieder zusammen. Kurzentschlossen holte ich die San Francisco Collection hervor, doch auch mit diesen Lacken war kein Water Marble möglich. Meine Enttäuschung und Frustration waren enorm. In höchster Verzweiflung griff ich willkürlich nach drei neben mir stehenden Lacken, die ich an diesem Tag auf Nail Sticks lackiert hatte: China Glaze Four Leaf Clover, China Glaze Peachy Keen und China Glaze Re-Fresh Mint. Endlich gelang ein schönes Design! Im Nachhinein stellte ich fest, dass alle drei Lacke aus derselben Kollektion stammen, nämlich China Glaze Up & Away. Also hatte ich mein Ziel blindlings doch noch irgendwie erreicht.

I had the following plan: I wanted to create a water marble design for each OPI collection of the last two years and only combine colors that came from the same collection. I thought this was a brilliant idea! First, I could take advantage of the beautiful and well planned color combinations of the collections and second, I was convinced that the polishes would work great together since they all came from the same brand. Happily I started my first attempt with last year’s spring collection Euro Central. I failed miserably. Not only did the polishes not spread, it even started to pull together again after about three drops of polish. Without a moment’s hesitation I headed over to the San Francisco Collection and failed again. My disappointment and frustration were gigantic (I’m sure you can relate). In desperation I grabbed three polishes standing next to me because I had swatched them on nail sticks the same day: China Glaze Four Leaf Clover, China Glaze Peachy Keen and China Glaze Re-Fresh Mint. Finally I succeeded in creating a beautiful marble! Afterwards I realized that all three lacquers actually belong to the same collection: China Glaze Up & Away. So I ‘blindly’ achieved my initial goal after all.

Ich habe begonnen mit 2 Schichten China Glaze Re-Fresh Mint als Basis für das Water Marble-Design. Falls ihr es nicht wisst, von Re-Fresh Mint sind zwei Versionen im Umlauf: eine hellgrüne, wie sie sein sollte, und eine hellblaue. Leider habe ich die blaue Variante erwischt. Zuerst war ich mir nicht ganz sicher, ob ich vielleicht farbenblind bin, aber schließlich habe ich herausgefunden, dass auch andere diese Eigenheit von Re-Fresh Mint festgestellt hatten. (OPI Gargantuan Green Grape hat übrigens dasselbe Problem.) Ich war ziemlich enttäuscht über die blaue Tönung, als ich den Lack vor einem Jahr bekommen habe. Aber nachdem ich Re-Fresh Mint verwendet habe, muss ich sagen, dass der Lack unabhängig von der falschen Farbe wirklich toll ist. Er hat die beste Konsistenz, die mir je bei einem Pastelllack untergekommen ist: überhaupt nicht streifig im Auftrag und vollkommen selbstnivellierend (das klingt irgendwie durchgeknallt auf Deutsch …). Nachdem die 2 Schichten trocken waren, habe ich das Water Marble mit China Glaze Four Leaf Clover, China Glaze Peachy Keen und China Glaze Re-Fresh Mint gemacht. Ich habe keinen Top Coat verwendet, weil die Nägel auch so schon schön geglänzt haben.

I started out with 2 coats of China Glaze Re-Fresh Mint as a base for the marble. In case you don’t know, there are two versions of Re-Fresh Mint out there: one is green as it should be, the other one is light blue. Unfortunately I have the blue version. At first I suspected myself to be color-blind but in the end I found out that there are other nail junkies that observed the same peculiarity. (OPI’s Gargantuan Green Grape has the same issue by the way.) I was pretty upset about the blue color of Re-Fresh Mint when I got it about a year ago. But now after I used it I have to say that it is an amazing polish regardless of the wrong color. It has the best formula I have ever encountered in a pastel shade. It’s not streaky at all and totally self-levelling. After the 2 coats had dried I went along with my water marble design with China Glaze Four Leaf Clover, China Glaze Peachy Keen and China Glaze Re-Fresh Mint. I didn’t use top coat as it was already very shiny.

Habt ihr auch Lacke aus der Up & Away Collection von China Glaze? Seit ich diese Water Marble-Maniküre gemacht habe, muss ich mich fortwährend zusammenreißen, um nicht Hals über Kopf die ganze Kollektion zu bestellen!!

Do you also have polishes from the Up & Away Collection from China Glaze? Ever since I did this water marble I constantly have to fight the strong urge to leave behind all restrictions and just buy the whole collection!!
