Sind wir ehrlich: Was bitte hat sich OPI beim Design der Gwen Stefani Collection gedacht? Viel kann es nicht gewesen sein, denn sonst hätten sie nicht dieses beeindruckend langweilige Set an Lacken auf den Markt geworfen. Gut, Push And Shove mag vielleicht eine Spur interessanter sein, aber ich habe nicht das geringste Interesse an einem Lack, der jede einzelne Rille auf meinen Nägeln betont. Darum habe ich auf diese Kollektion aus tiefster Überzeugung verzichtet. Natürlich habe ich trotzdem jeden einzelnen Review mit Spannung verfolgt. Und dann ist das Undenkbare passiert: aus dem Nichts heraus hat mich die Gwen Stefani Collection zu faszinieren begonnen. Darum habe ich mir das Miniset mit den Lacken 4 In The Morning, Hey Baby, Live.Love.Music.Baby und I Sing In Color bestellt! Und es ist übrigens nicht das erste Mal, dass ich seltsamen Gefallen an Gewöhnlichem finde … 🙂

Let’s be honest here: What was OPI thinking when designing the Gwen Stefani Collection? It can’t have been much because otherwise they wouldn’t have come up with this impressively boring set of polishes. Ok, maybe Push And Shove is kinda special but I have absolutely no interest in a polish that shows each and every ridge on my nail. So I happily skipped this collection altogether. But of course I was keen to read every review I could find. Then the unthinkable happened: I started to adore it. So I ended up getting the mini set with 4 In The Morning, Hey Baby, Live.Love.Music.Baby und I Sing In Color! And please let me tell you that it’s not the first time that I am strangely drawn to the ordinary … 🙂

Nicht genug damit, dass ich mir das Miniset gekauft habe, ich habe sogar den rätselhaften Zwang verspürt, die Maniküre nachzumachen, die Gwen Stefani auf den Werbebildern trägt (hat mir ursprünglich auch nicht gefallen …). Zuerst habe ich alle Nägel mit 2 Schichten OPI 4 In The Morning lackiert und vollständig trocknen lassen. Dann habe ich mit Hilfe von Klebeband und dem pinken Lack OPI Hey Baby die rosa Rechtecke gemacht. Auf meinem Ringfinger habe ich die Hälfte des Nagels mit dem Goldlack OPI Love.Angel.Music.Baby und dem Glitterlack OPI All Sparkly And Gold lackiert. Schließlich habe ich auf alle Nägel Top Coat aufgetragen, weil das matte Finish von OPI 4 In The Morning meiner Meinung nach nichts hergibt. Auf den Bildern gefällt mir die Maniküre sehr gut, obwohl sie mir in Wirklichkeit eigentlich gar nicht gefallen hat. Tape-Maniküren sind einfach nicht mein Ding. Die Linien werden nie so schön wie ich das gerne hätte. Naja, Übung hilft vielleicht …

Not enough that I got the mini set I even felt the strong urge to recreate the manicure Gwen Stefani is wearing on the collection promo pics (at first I hated the look …). I started out by painting all my nails with 2 coats of OPI 4 In The Morning and let that dry completely. Then I applied tape and created the pink rectangles with OPI Hey Baby. On my ring finger I painted half of my nail with the gold polish OPI Love.Angel.Music.Baby and also added the gold glitter OPI All Sparkly And Gold. I finished off with a layer of Top Coat as I don’t care about the matte finish of OPI 4 In The Morning. I like the manicure very much in the pictures but I didn’t like it in real life. Tape manis are just not my thing. The lines are never as neat as I want them to be. Maybe practice might help …
