Multichromes have been a big trend for quite some time now and the ‘oil slick mania’ continues this fall! Color Club even came out with an entire Oil Slick Collection featuring exclusively multichromes. It just popped into my mind that multi- and duochromes have come a long way. When I think of OPI’s first approach to the duochrome world aka Peace, Love & OPI it even makes me giggle 😉 It really doesn’t compare to the breathtaking multichromes that are being released by indie companies nowadays!

I recently wanted to create a truly authentic oil slick look by incorporating as many multichromes as possible. So I decided for a water marble with a black base underneath. As always it turned out as big mess and I wasted a disturbing amount of polish for experiments. Eventually (polish and remover scent EVERYWHERE in the room …) I used four polishes from the Dance Legend Galaxy Collection. Those were the only multichromes in my collection that were fairly suitable for marbling 🙂

I prepped my nails with 2 coats of KBShimmer Eclipse (plain black). For the water marble I used Dance Legend Milky Way, Solar Eclipse, Comet Tail and Protuberance. And then it took me at least half an hour to clean up my fingers and nails …
