My Top 5 Spring Polishes 2016

My Top Five Spring Polishes 2016: ILNP Sweet Pea, OPI I Am What I Amethyst, FUN Lacquer King, KBShimmer Ruby, Nine Zero Lacquer March 2016

Spring is in full bloom in Vienna and today I’m showing you my five favorite polishes of this season! After thorough analysis of the disturbing amount of my newly purchased polishes I picked the following shades: ILNP Sweet Pea, OPI I Am What I Amethyst, FUN Lacquer King, KBShimmer Ruby and Nine Zero Lacquer March 2016. Let’s take a closer look at all of them 🙂

ILNP Sweet Pea

ILNP Sweet PeaILNP Sweet Pea is a nude pink jelly with holographic flakes from the new ILNP Spring Jellies Collection. This polish really got me back into loving nude nail colors! During high school I used to wear all different kinds of nudes ranging from very light nude jellies to darker beige and rosy cremes. Later on I somehow lost this love for nudes and when I was introduced to indie nail polishes about 3 years ago, I was hopelessly overwhelmed by the vast variety of finishes and colors that there wasn’t enough space for nudes any more. But ILNP Sweet Pea now combines the best of both worlds: a lovely understated color and an exceptional finish. The polish has a very sheer jelly formula and even after 3 coats (which I applied here) the visible nail line still peeks through in some lightings, but I don’t mind this at all. I bought Sweet Pea directly from ILNP (great shipping times!).

OPI I Am What I Amethyst

OPI I Am What I AmethystOPI I Am What I Amethyst is a super light periwinkle/lilac creme from this year’s OPI Soft Shades. I’ve always loved pastel colors on my nails and this particular shade is really special. I don’t have anything like it in my collection. Of course I own many regular pastel blues and also pastel lilacs but nothing gets close to this blue-lilac-hybrid. The formula is, well, alright, I guess. I managed to get it opaque in 2 coats but the second coat was quite thick. I wish OPI would have come up with a better formula. I purchased it from this ebay seller together with the rest of the new Soft Shades Collection.

FUN Lacquer King

FUN Lacquer KingFUN Lacquer King is a gold holographic glitter polish with sterling silver flakes. It’s the golden counterpart to FUN Lacquer Queen. Indie companies have given us so many gorgeous metallic micro glitters/foils/flakies and I love them all! I think gold and silver polishes shouldn’t be confined to holiday season. I especially enjoy wearing them now in spring when the sun comes out. One of my favorites is FUN Lacquer King. The metallic finish is absolutely blinding in direct sun light! I applied 3 coats here. I got King directly from FUN Lacquer.

KBShimmer Ruby

KBShimmer RubyKBShimmer Ruby is a bright red filled with metallic flakes and holographic dust. It belongs to the KBShimmer Birthstone Collection, a 12 piece collection of sparkling foil finish colors representing each month and birthstone. I bought 6 out of the 12, including Ruby 🙂 I love the brightness of Ruby and of course the crazy sparkle. Just like FUN Lacquer’s King it’s blinding in sun light! There’s a slight flash of pink to it. It’s a very fresh take on red which I love for spring. The polish has great coverage. I applied 2 coats for the picture. I purchased it from Harlow & Co.

Nine Zero Lacquer March 2016

Nine Zero Lacquer March 2016Nine Zero Lacquer March 2016 is a vibrant green holographic with holographic silver microglitter. I have already shown it to you last week. The bright, fresh green color is gorgeous and so appropriate for spring as well as for summer! The holographic effect is very strong in this polish! I applied 2 coats. I wanna mention again that the formula is too thick for my taste and unfortunately I couldn’t even thin it out with polish thinner. The consistency just stayed the same. But this shouldn’t keep you from getting the polish. I purchased it directly from Nine Zero Lacquer.
